US Report: China gifted nuclear bomb and Pakistan stole the technology

A new US Congressional report has challenged the  Pakistani story that India's first nuclear test in 1974 was the trigger for its nuclear weapons quest. The Congressional Research Service's May 15 report to US lawmaker said that Pakistan's nuclear energy program dates back to the 1950s "but it was the loss of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in a bloody war with India that probably triggered a political decision in January 1972 (just one month later) to begin a secret nuclear weapons program."It further added that Pakistan's argument was falsely represented to the international community, that it was forced to take the nuclear weapons path because it was provoked by India's first nuclear test in 1974.

One such expert, White House insider Bruce Riedel, who recently co-authored the Obama administration's Af-Pak policy, offered the following sequence in a recent op-ed, broadly concurring with the CRS report:

"The origins of the Pakistani nuclear program lie in the deep national humiliation of the 1971 war with India that led to the partition of the country, the independence of Bangladesh and the destruction of the dream of a single Muslim state for all of south Asia's Muslim population. Indians also reached the gates of Lahore (One of the major city in Pakistan) by winning but was returned back to Pakistan as soon as the war was over, though Pakistan refused to return the part of Kashmir which it occupied illegally in 1948 and gifted some part of it to China. The military dictator at the time, Yahya Khan, presided over the loss of half the nation, the surrender of 90,000 Pakistani soldiers in Dacca. The Pakistani establishment determined it must develop a nuclear weapon to counter India's conventional superiority.

The then new prime minister, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, convened the country's top 50 scientists secretly in January 1972 and challenged them to build a bomb. He famously said that Pakistanis would sacrifice everything and "eat grass" to get a nuclear deterrent. The 1974 Indian nuclear explosion helped them make an evasion." Starting in 1972 Pakistan could come up with something with the help of China in 1998 a few days after India's second nuclear test

The Report futher added, "Mr. Bhutto received an unsolicited letter from a Pakistani who had studied in Louvain, Belgium, Abdul Qadeer Khan, offering to help by stealing sensitive centrifuge technology from his new employers at a nuclear facility in the Netherlands. Over the next few years—with the assistance of the Pakistani intelligence service, the Inter Services Intelligence Directorate (ISI)—Mr. Khan would steal the key technology to help Pakistan produce fissionable material to make a bomb."

Both the CRS report and Riedel pointed out to the help which China gave to Pakistan in its nuclear weapons quest, a subject successive US administrations are leery of broaching for fear of angering Beijing. "Islamabad gained technology from many illegal sources," says the CRS report, adding, "This extensive assistance is reported to have included, among other things, uranium enrichment technology from Europe (stolen by Khan, according to Riedel), blueprints for a small nuclear weapon from China, and missile technology from China and North Korea." It is very disturbing that Pakistan can go to any extent to counter or challenege India they didnt even bother about their self respect while stealing.

Riedel concurs, writing, "China also helped the nascent Pakistani program overcome technical challenges. According to some accounts by proliferation experts, it allowed Pakistani scientists to participate in Chinese tests to help them learn more about the bomb.

Pakistan not only stole the bomb and technology but also helped other rogue countries like Iran, Libya and North Korea to make a nuclear bomb, this transfer of technology is considered highly illegal. "An angry, humiliated, and wounded A.Q.Khan (father of Pakistan Nuclear Bomb) has finally made public and official what has long been suspected: his nuclear proliferation activities that included exchanging and passing blue-prints, technology and equipment to China, Iran, North Korea, and Libya was done at the behest of the Pakistani government and military, and he was forced to take the rap for it." (Source: AQ Khan nails Pakistan's nuke lies: Times Group)

After stealing the bomb, Pakistan gave main attention to its conventional power hence it started building up its conventional power, they were worried that the world may start doubting that the country which can not develop missiles and other weapons, how come they developed a nuclear missile? At a press conference held during an international exhibition of defense equipment in Turkey last summer, a Russian military delegation harshly criticized the Pakistan Ordnance Factories Company for copying Russian weapons systems. The Russians claimed that the POF’s RPG-7P anti-tank rockets, 122-mm D-30 howitzer ammunition and PK-10 assault guns were 100-percent imitations of Russian systems. The PK-10 assault gun is a Pakistani version of the Russian Kalashnikov, or AK-47, the Russians pointed out. As for the other two weapons, even the names remain the same. (Source: Russia confronts Pakistan, China over copied weapons)

The Brookings said in one of its article Pakistan and the Bomb: Pakistan is a unique nuclear weapons state. It has been both the recipient of technology transfers from other states and a supplier of technology to still other states. It has been a state sponsor of proliferation and has tolerated private sector proliferation as well. Pakistan has engaged in highly provocative behavior against India, even initiating a limited war, and sponsored terrorist groups that have engaged in mass casualty terrorism inside India’s cities, most recently last November in Mumbai. No other nuclear weapons state has done all of these provocative actions. Just after testing its nuclear bomb the Pakistani army initiated a limited war with India in the mountains of the Hindu Kush by crossing the line of control separating Pakistani and Indian forces and entered deep in Kashmir occupying the heights and covering the National Highway 1 of India, Loosing which India will loose Kashmir. The Kargil War, as it is called, dragged on for several weeks. Having the advantage of being on the heights and covering the highway Pakistan lost the war and most of its armymen were killed, while returning their bodies back to Pakistan, The government of Pakistan refused to accept the corpse despite the protest by the family of the soldiers who were killed.

My family was paid to attack India: Kasab

The lone surviving terrorist of the group of ten sent by the Pakistani terrorist and charitable organisation, Ajmal Amir Kasab said that the organisation paid his father huge amount of money

One of the tapes of Kasab's interrogation points to how he got involved with the Lashkar terror group:

Kasab: He said, "These people make loads of money and so will you. (Inaudible) We'll have money, we won't be poor any more. Your brothers and sisters can get married. Look at these guys living the good life. You can be like them," he said.

Unidentified Male: Your dad said this?

Kasab: Yes. So, I said, "Fine, whatever."

Unidentified Male: What does he do for a living?

Kasab: He used to sell yogurt and potato snacks in the street.

Unidentified Male: How much did they give you? Did they put it in your account?

Kasab: There is no account. They gave it to my dad.

Unidentified Male: How much did they give him?

Kasab: I don't know. Maybe a few hundred thousand.

In another tape, Kasab recalls how the terrorist group was trained.

Police: How long were you in training?

Kasab: Three months. There were 24 or 25 in our class.

Police: Where were the people from?

Kasab: They don't tell you. I only knew about one. He said he was from Lahore. He became my friend.

Police: Didn't they allow you to speak to each other?

Kasab: We were forbidden to speak to each other. It was very strict. The proper training where they say, "This boy is ready now" - that only takes three months. That's it.

Police: Did you ever ask, "Won't I feel pity for the people I'm killing?"

Kasab: I did, but he said you have to do these things if you're going to be a big man and get rewarded in heaven.

Police: So you came here for jihad? Is that right?

Kasab: (crying) What jihad?

Police: It's no use crying. Tell me the truth. Is that right or no?

Kasab: You wouldn't understand.

A conversation between another young terrorist with his handler was also aired on the show. Locked in a bathroom at Mumbai's Trident Oberoi hotel, another Pakistani terrorist named Fahadullah knew the end was near. He was out of food, water, energy and ammunition, and could hear the steady stream of police gunshots getting closer.

He and nine other terrorists were winding down from a gruesome, 36-hour killing spree through the city, and he was talking on the phone to a handler far away in Pakistan.

"You mustn't let them arrest you, remember that," the controller insisted. "Fahadullah, my brother, can't you just get out there and fight?"

"I am out of grenades," Fahadullah weakly offered.

"Be brave, brother. Don't panic. For your mission to end successfully, you must be killed. God is waiting for you in heaven."

Indian Railways crossed another milestone in Kashmir

On Wednesday 28th October, 2009, Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh flagged off the 18-km track linking south Kashmir with Srinagar and other places in the north of the kashmir valley. With this, the 129KM railway line in the Kashmir valley is completed.

The new track is believed to be of huge socio-economic and political significance to the militancy-affected Kashmir Valley. The security of the train and the passenger from cross border terrorism and militancy is the main concern of the government now. The stretch is part of the government's Kashmir rail link, which was declared a project of national importance in 2002 by former Prime Minister of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee. Qazigund, about 80 km from Srinagar, is also significant as it will be the highest broad-gauge rail station in the subcontinent at a height of 1,722 metres.

The Project starts from the city of Udhampur a city 55 kilometres north of Jammu, and travels for 290 kilometres (180 mi) to the city of Baramulla on the northwestern edge of the Kashmir Valley. The route lies on such a climate zone where high snowfall is seen most of the year. The route also passes the major earthquake dangr zones.

In 1898, the King of Kashmir Maharaja Pratap Singh first came with the idea of linking Jammu and Srinagar (two important places of Kashmir, presently summer and winter capital of Kashmir respectively) by rail. But due to complications with British Governemnt this was suspended.

Then in 1905 Maharaja Pratap Singh approved a rali line between Jammu Srinagar which was now proposed by britsh Government.
In July, 2002 Atal behari Vajpayee, the Prime Minister of India declared this line a national project. This means it had to be completed without looking at the cost. Central government enrolled the budjet to fund this project entirely

On April 13, 2005. Jammu-Udhampur line was connected with US$130 million. The line has 20 major tunnels and 158 bridges

The railway is expected to cross a total of over 750 bridges and pass through over 100 kilometres of tunnels, the longest of which is about 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) in length. The greatest engineering challenges involve the crossing of the Chenab river which involves building a 1,315 metres (4,310 ft) long bridge 359 metres (1,180 ft) above the river bed, and the crossing of the Anji Khad, which involves building a 657 metres (2,160 ft) long bridge 186 metres (610 ft) above the river bed. (Source: Official webpage of the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited. http://www.konkanrailway.com/website/tender/annexure1.pdf. Retrieved 2008-08-14.) The Chenab Bridge will be the highest railway structure of its kind in the world, 35 m higher than the tip of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

With major highways, airways and now railways is linking Kashmir with India and the world, Pakistan is not happy. The part of Kashmir which Pakistan is holding illegally is becoming a flourishing ground for terrorists and their training camp. Due to lack of infrastructure and due to poverty, people who are trapped in that part of kashmir are trapped forever. This is forcing the young child of the families to join Jehad against India, on doing so these organisations funds their families.

India, Israel and U.S funding taliban in Pakistan

Ruling out the points made by a report which said that the possible source of Taliban's fund is the opium cultivation in many parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan, Interior Minister of Pakistan Rehman Malik claimed that these nations [India, Israel and U.S] are fomenting unrest within Pakistan through steps such as funding Taliban fighters based along the border with Afghanistan.

U.S has been fighting a war with Al-Qaeda and Taliban since 2001. India which is itself frustrated with extremism is making sweet relations with Afghan government by donating billions for their infrastructure and security  to keep the extremists on bay. Whereas Israel is fighting a long term war with Islamic Extremism. Hence it has become very difficult to believe in the Interior minister's recent statement.

Asked during an interview to a TV news channel as to who was backing the Taliban, he said: "There are certain hostile elements against Pakistan and there are certain hostile agencies which do not want Pakistan to be stabilised."

He then specially pointed out its 62 year old enemy neighbour, India. In response to a question on whether India is among the hostile agencies, Malik said, "Yes, of course, I am convinced. I have no doubt about it. I was very open. I have given the full details. (Source: India funding Taliban fighters: Pak Minister)

As per now nothing has been done by the Pakistani Government in the Mumbai blast case, dossier given by India has been checked by more than 100 nations of the world including U.S, Europe, Russia, China and other major South American, African and Arab Countries.

Taliban was born with the help of CIA and Pakistani Intelligence agency, ISI to make the Soviets leave Afghanistan. After U.S winning the proxy war paid very less attention to Taliban. Pakistan used this opportunity and headed Taliban to capture Kabul and form a ruling body there, to enlarge its area of influence with a plan of destabilizing India making Afghanistan responsible for the act.

Bosnia war survivors attending Karadzic's trial

A news agency has reported that around 160 survivors of bosnia's 1992-95 war are leaving Sarajevo to attend the trial of their wartime leader Radovan Karadzic's genocide trial in The Hague, Netherlands. Monday will be the starting day for the Karadzic's trial before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

However he has boycotted the trial as he was not given proper time for it according to him. He has been in custody and working on his defense since his arrest on a Belgrade bus in July 2008. Judges have now scheduled his trial on Tuesday

The decision enraged survivors who had traveled by bus from Bosnia to see Karadzic finally face justice. A small group briefly refused to leave the courtroom after the adjournment and one woman threatened a hunger strike.

"We are going there (The Hague) to show to Europe and the world that we are still here, still searching for the truth and still waiting for justice," Munira Subasic, head of an association gathering the 1995 Srebrenica massacre survivors that organised the trip, told FENA before his trial on Monday which was postponed.

Sarajevo (AFP) quoted Subasic, who is still searching for the remains of her son and husband as
"Karadzic's trial should by conducted in line with rules and justice to avoid what had happened with (former Serbian president Slobodan) Milosevic," Milosevic died in his prison cell during his genocide trial in 2006.
"When he died, justice died as well," Subasic further added.

Karadzic faces life imprisonment on 11 counts of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity for his actions as Bosnian Serb president during Bosnia's inter-ethnic war that claimed an estimated 100,000 lives. Karadzic is also charged notably for the July 1995 massacre of around 8,000 Muslim men and boys at Srebrenica

ISI tells surrendered Talibanese to join jihad against India

Reports says that ISI has offered around 60 surrendered Talibanese to Join jihad against India in Kashmir. Majority of population in Kashmir being of Muslims, taliban believe they can be made targets and can be turned against India very easily. ISI will send them to jails if they do not go to India. The Pakistan military establishment has had to fight the Taliban, once its close allies in Afghanistan, but is looking to turn the situation to its advantage.

Sources from Border Security Force of India and Indian Army says that Army already knows about this development made against India deep in the soil of Pakistan.

"Although the Taliban is yet to successfully infiltrate into India, the coming days will pose a challenge as their attempts to sneak in are expected before the onset of winter," said a senior official as quoted by The Times of India. The infiltration is closely controlled and monitored by the ISI and Pakistan army which is often involved in the crossings.

Sources also believe that the state actors of Pakistan is also involved in this matter and have been and are helping the militants to infiltrate across the border right into the Indian territory. Soft attitude of India towards terrorism is the source of motivation and encourage to them. It is Pakistan who warns India of a possible nuclear attack on India if India tries to take any hard action. Thus making India a dumb state which becomes unable to do anything during an attack funded which is often or always (directly/indirectly) funded by Pakistan.

The Talibanese are now more threatening and are more trained, their experience has gained fighting with U.S. The modern weapons which they possess is not with many armies of the world. Taliban is becoming a modern terrorism group.

Times of India says Apart from the group of 60, there are nearly 250 to 300 jihadis who are armed with sophisticated weapons, Thuraya satellite phones and Indian mobile SIM cards - poised at launch pads along LoC (Line of Control). This feeds into the view that violence could escalate in Kashmir in the winter months.  "Such incidents (like use of choppers) clearly show the involvement of Pakistani authorities in facilitating infiltration. Though our forces are fully alert to thwart Pakistani designs, the next 15-20 days are quite crucial as this is the period when they will do everything to infiltrate as many terrorists as possible," said a senior official as quoted by The Times of India. That is when winter will begin to set in.

It is winter when the intensity of troops reduces in the region. The Kashmir region is one of the worlds coldest borders and staying on the post throughout the year is very difficult. This is the period when Pakistan releases its evil plans. One can not forget the Kargil war in Kashmir, how the Pakistani Army entered Indian heights and occupied them before Indian army could arrive. Thanks to Indian army who regained the territory after defeating Pakistan.

It should be recalled that even though Pakistani Army was involved in war with Taliban in its Western frontiers, Taliban offered Pakistan help if it goes with war with India after the Mumbai Attacks.
